Helping the stroke service

When the stroke service on Ward 5 needed some additional supportive wheelchairs for their patients Friends were happy to help. The wheelchairs were donated last year and aid patient well-being, mood and motivation after a stroke. Here’s our volunteer Alison Dixon having a look at one of the wheelchairs with Stroke Specialist Nurse Pam Beaumont. 

Donation to the Maternity Unit

When Friends of Airedale were approached to donate fifteen variable heights cots to the maternity unit they were very happy to help. The cots which were donated last year are adjustable height and are designed to promote safe sleeping and enhance the bond between mother and baby.  Here’s our volunteer John Lofthouse having a look at one of the cots with Clare Stowell the Ward Manager.

Long Service Awards – what a fantastic achievement

Our wonderful volunteers were presented with their long service awards at the recent AGM. Here’s a group photo of some of the recipients. Certificates and badges were awarded for 5, 10, 15 and 20 years service and all presented by Brendan Brown, Chief Executive of Airedale Hospital. 

Emergency equipment trolley for Radiology

Cots for Childrens Ward

We have donated 6 of these amazing cots for the children’s unit. They have electronic height adjustment allowing parents/carers to position the cots at a height appropriate for their stature. They also have tilting mattresses enabling positioning of the infant to support those with respiratory distress. Refurbishment of seating area for Main Entrance cafe

We recently organised and funded the refurbishment of the seating area for The Friendly Café and shop in the Main Entrance of Airedale Hospital.
