How We Help
Each year The Friends of Airedale donates thousands of pounds worth of vital equipment and services for the hospital with the aim of supporting patient care and improving the hospital experience for both patients and their visitors. Along with donations, bequests and other fund-raising activities, we have raised more than £2 million over the past 12 years. The charity is run by a board of Trustees who meet every few weeks to consider requests for help with funding from different departments across the hospital. Below are just some recent examples of how we have helped:

Ward 20, the surgical day ward, is presented with a new TV for the patient lounge. We also provided replacement chairs for around the unit.

We funded the cost of a specialist exercise bike for The Oaks Resource Centre in Keighley.

The Friends paid for and presented hospital staff with three air inflatable medical mattresses designed to help clinicians safely lift patients weighing up to 500kg from the floor

The children’s outpatient department was presented with a much-needed boost to the toys on offer to its young visitors – just in time for Christmas!
