Hospital charity The Friends of Airedale has brought a little added comfort to Ward 20, the surgical day ward, with a new TV for the patient lounge and replacement chairs for around the unit.
The TV was presented to ward staff by Friend’s chairman Alison Dixon who said: “Trustees were delighted to agree to the request for a new TV for the day room as we know what a difference it can make to patients to have a distraction while awaiting surgery. The board also agreed to half fund the provision of some replacement chairs for patient use around the unit.”
Senior Sister for Ward 20, Sharon Golson said: “We were over the moon when we heard that the Friends would fund the cost of a new TV, as well as pay half towards the much-needed replacement chairs. Quite a lot of our patients sit in the day room to have infusions, so having something to watch or music to listen to really helps the time go by for them. Other people may be feeling quite anxious ahead of surgery, so the TV offers a perfect distraction. We’re really pleased that the Friends of Airedale were able to supply this for us.”
